My Art

Art is constant learning, discovering unknown worlds, and also making mistakes. For these reasons, my range of works extends from collages to pure painting and even sculptures. My chosen themes determine the appropriate supports and painting materials. From this different works then emerge, both in terms of formats as well as techniques.

Stays abroad inspire me with themes and interpretations.

Then I bring the “visual impressions” from travels into my studio to process the impressions. Political themes also always determine my works. Most recently, the war in Ukraine and the Proclamation of Human Rights 1948.

The decision to dedicate my life to art and work as a freelance artist was made during my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.

Additionally, I was encouraged by the Italian painter Emilio Vedova, Professor at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, with whom I, after completing my studies in Vienna, studied for another year. He was the most important and lasting mentor for me.

Education

1974-79 Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Prof. Walter Eckert

1978 Teaching Examinations – Magister Artium

1979-80 Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice with Prof Emilio Vedova

Numerous stays abroad (USA, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Eritrea, Great Britain, Namibia, France)

For me, art is not a photographic depiction of everyday life, but the sum of all that we call life.
